1.03 Firmware. Anybody installed it yet?I have notice that Nikon has released the 1.03 firmware on Jan 11 but i have not heard of anyone installing it yet.
Has anyone installed it yet? The only problem it fixed was something very obscure and convoluted. Steve.

I'm not to "fussy" about the new firmware 1.03 and it has nothing improve with the camera in quality, clarity and so on, so leave it for the next upgrade when it comes with ISO 10 and real MLU

Killa - go back to the groundbreaking thread started by Charlie Chalk on the 1.03 firmware. (Groundbreaking in that it was another D70users first in our history of discovery - pulled alot of attention from DPR and most didn't believe until it was announced a week later by Nikon). You'd see I was among the early adopters. Like the 1.02 version before - it could be said to address something I wouldn't see either - high shutter colour shift, cont shooting in medium jpg mode, improved simplified chinese menu options, etc. but I updated on the off chance that, like car manufacturers' servicing handbooks; it may address certain issues not documented.
Actually I've found NC4.2 made a bigger difference - high ISO colour noise has improved a sh^tload, and the noise reduction setting was turned off!
Onyx, Check your u/g, you may have done something wrong uninstall and re-upgrade, you may find some hidden treasures of the 1.03 Yes, of course, you'll need improved simplified chinese menu options cos you're not too far from your destinator and it's targeting the China's population in mainland China, now or sooner will have the D70 in each of their household instead of the 300D Birddog114

Re: 1.03 Firmware. Anybody installed it yet?
I installed it soon after release, I haven't noticed any obvious changes. Cheers What's another word for "thesaurus"?
I was just reading on another forum about the new update causing some increased noise - Has anyone else noticed this at all?

This Sigma lens is not VR and I say: Glen used tripod for this stunning shot, but there are terribly noise as Chris mentioned, cos the new upgraded firmware! Birddog114

Shot, sir!Hey Glen - nice composition and good detail from that Sigma
Yes, Would agree that no probs - Good to see
Glen
Great shot - I like the composition. This is a really good example of what can be done with a quality 12-24 lens. Peter

I think it shows the advantages of a 12-24 also Stubbsy. Here is another shot, taken 20 metres further back with the kit at 18mm, when you look at the right of the frame you can see how much more 6mm adds. Pier One isn't even on this shot. If they were taken from the same spot it would be even more. I do like the 12mm range on these cameras
I installed firmware upgrade 1.03 soon after release. Helped to fill in part of a Sunday morning from memory, and for a change didn't cost anything to do .
Cheers, fozzie
When people ask what equipment I use - I tell them my eyes.
Glen.
I only see one issue with the pic taken with the 12-24. Sigma - was that not some sort of old car? Cheers, Darryl. They recycle them into dodgy lenses ps I liked your story about walking through Westfields looking for security guards with your camera
