Newbie with new camera

Postby pwoo on Fri Sep 18, 2009 6:39 pm

Hi,

I am new here. Matt. K suggested in another post that I start a new thread to introduce myself. I have been using the D50 for the last 4 years and just picked up the D300s today. :D

I usually follow the dpreview forum, but recently found this site and thought it would be good to learn from the locals as well. I am a slow writer, so I rarely post in forum, but I will have to try harder to earn the member status.

The subjects of my photographs are usually my kids, and the occasional holiday landscape. It's hard to find time with a young family.

That's it for now.

Regards,
Patrick.

Hi Patrick, and welcome.

Congratlations on the D300s. It's a camera that will let your skills grow. Please be sure to post some of your images. We have a First Image section, specifically so that you may post a first image with your new toy.

Beyond that, the Image Critiques section is how you will truly get to learn how to start to make some great images. The more that you post, and listen, then the more you'll be able to learn.

Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935.

Thanks to all,

I have an idea about my first image post, but haven't pulled off the execution yet. I will post it if I get something close to my mental image or when I give up and need help. :)

Regards,
Patrick.

You're welcome, Patrick.

Over time, you'll find that we all love to help you spend your money.

But in turn, you get to help the rest of us spend what little of it we each have remaining. :)
