Lost With Wordpress..

Postby photomarcs on Tue Dec 08, 2009 11:31 am

Hi All,

Just a general inquiry, but i've been up to the neck with trying to figure out how to use the wordpress system on my website. I'm rather Noob at web, so the mysql sorta stuff i have only a very basic idea.. hence EXTREMELY basic..

was wondering.. if anyone can advise me on how to install wordpress manually without hte fantastico installer from most hosts..

Any advice is much appreciated,

Thanks =)

I seem to have the nickname of "The Wordpress Guy" in tech journalism (aside for "Camera Guy In A Hat") so I can help here.

Upload the contents of the Wordpress zip to the folder via FTP.

Go into your SQL manager - probably phpmyadmin or whatever the host has setup (Dreamhost for instance forces you to create databases in their manager but allows you to edit & maintain them in phpmyadmin) - and create a database.

And then use a browser to browse to said directory and follow the instructions from there.
