[Throws a snowball at Surenj]

What interests me about this image is that Ireland is still green :) (Or emerald?)

I was living in England for the great cold snap of the early 1970s. (I can't remember which year) I am sure that if we'd had satellite images then it would have looked like it does now.

Back the, the snow was so heavy over lunchtime that my school was closed but we could not go home so we had to stay there overnight, sleeping in our classrooms, until the snow stopped falling. The following morning we had the time of our lives playing in the snow in the school yard until our parents came to pick us up and spoil our fun :(

Ah, them w'days. ( <-Yorkshire accent)

Yep, remember the early 70’s snap in the UK plus an even worse one around 1962. I was stuck on a train for 8 hours without any heating, or more importantly, no toilet facilities

I should have been there right now! Due to retrecnhment earlier middle of last year the plans were scuppered.

Not sure wether to look at it as a missed photographic oppurtunity, as snow in the UK is fairly rare these days, or as a blessing in disguise, as travel in those conditions can be fairly limiting given the fact that as the snow is seldom they are never ready for it.

There seems to be a bit of Pommy bashing going on in this thread. Grrrr...... (Some of it deserved)

I'd never go back. (Well, probably never. One should never say never. It is highly unlikely though. Maybe a visit. Visit rellies, watch Leeds win, take a photo of Stonehenge, that kind of thing. But not return to live there...England is full of foreigners now anyway. Even the Queen and her other half's a bit of a foreigner. I mean Harrods, that old English shopping institution is owned by an Arab. he does seem like a nice guy though. His son was doing things to Princess Diana that I would have like to do to her. He died with her in the car crash in Paris though, quite tragic really.... Al Fayed i think his name is. I think he might own Fulham too. The football club, not the suburb. Although I reckon he's got the money to buy the suburb if he wanted to. But who would? Not me that's for sure. I think I might be waffling now....)
