d5100 released apparently....

Postby bigsarg7 on Tue Apr 05, 2011 4:29 pm

Well according to http://nikonrumors.com the Nikon d5100 has been released. Not something that i'd buy personally but I figured it worth mentioning on the forum, never know some newbies might be in the market for something (although the d7000 is still much better IMO) -not that there's a huge amount of info regarding the d5100 that i've read. Has anyone got any opinions on this camera? I don't think it's officially released here yet but it is in the US and a few others. Only wish they'd have had an update for the d300s or the d700 by now too. Next time! lol

now not just apparently, it is on Nikon Australia site as well as the UK and likely some more.

does look like a very nice little camera, depending on price, could be what I was looking for in a compact dslr.

Can I suggest April 18th?

I got a tip about this one last week, I noted April 4th as the date (as per NikonRumors) but my rep said April 18th, so I guess that will be the date for shipping/pricing?

My date was from the PR, who are external to Nikon. I suspect that your sales rep may be closer to the mark, but we'll see.

Perhaps the date I was given was the date that the PR are expecting to get review units?

B&H has the camera on for $800USD body only and $900USD body and 18-55 lens. They list arrival in May. Possibly similar arrival here as well.

Nikon USA does list mid-April for availability.

cheers,

André

If this has the same ISO performance as the D7000, this will be a new era in consumer DSLRs!

Supposedly starting to ship in the USA on Monday 18th.

Ted's have it on their website from $999.95, so not sure if that is the body only price. Digital Camera Warehouse have the kit price with 18-55 for $1049.
