Whilst indeed sad, let's not forget that Chapter 11 does not necessarily mean the end of Kodak. Sure, it bodes ill for its future, but it is largely a mechanism to provide bankruptcy protection whilst it tries to reorganise itself. I understand they have sold off their gelatin business, allowing them to purchase the gelatin back at prospectively lower prices.

I have also read that cinematic film use will be overtaken by digital within about 2 years. This will be the key driver to the longevity of film production and use. Will there be one major player (Ilford) with a few minors?

I definitely would like to see permanency in film production, but am not holding my breath.
Regards, Patrick

Wanna buy mine? I found a dozen rolls of Kodachrome (complete with mail-in bags) the other day while clearing out my drawers.
;)

Cheers
