IPad 2 Down load speed?Hi I am considering an Ipad 2 as a demo unit for customers can any one give me a clue as to its jpeg download speed for say 3mb file size 500 pics approx
cheers jim--Seemed very slow at a chrissie party loading straight from my D3s??

Re: IPad 2 Down load speed?I was thinking more along the lines of transfer via cosmic radiation, that way there would be no interference and super fast.
did I think that or type that? gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: IPad 2 Down load speed?
I guess he means via the camera connection kit.
Re: IPad 2 Down load speed?Cosmic Radiation HMMMMM must be Sydney humour
down loading of Jpeg images from camera or from my base 1TB hard drive My point is they seem easy to use and look great but is it slow to load pics from say a wedding to do a viewing? Jim
Re: IPad 2 Down load speed?I don't think you can plug a hard drive into the kit. The "USB" interface via the kit is designed only to recognise camera memory cards or cameras I believe.
I have an iPad2 and the camera connection kit (which I've never used) so I could try it out for you if you like - the speed may depend however on the speed of the memory card and/or camera. D600, D7000, Nikon/Sigma/Tamron Lenses, Nikon Flashes, Sirui/Manfrotto/Benro Sticks

Re: IPad 2 Down load speed?HI Thats more the info i need
as the Ipad 2 will not be in my primary chain of processing images then it sounds like a fair task to transfer images from Hard drive ti Ipad for a demo-- I was going to consider this to carry previous event pics with me (at a reduced size) but there are some hidden traps cheers jim
IPad 2 Down load speed?Camera connector won't power hard drives and some more hungry thumb drives.

Re: IPad 2 Down load speed?
If this is the whole reason, then surely a powered drive, or even a powered hub should fix the issue. But I have a PVR with USB port that has all sorts of restrictions built into the firmware. Makes it pretty much useless for any real world application. Apple may have gone down the same path.

Re: IPad 2 Down load speed?
No. They've crippled the connector; it's not a true USB host, so all bets are off.
Actually, that's a Tapatalk message. Jim, I'd probably be looking at a laptop of some sort for this. You can tether to the camera, and images will appear on the monitor in a matter of a second or two. You could use an iPad as an external monitor if you wish. And Lenovo have a USB powered extension monitor that could be passed around, but it requires a PC to drive it. g.

Re: IPad 2 Down load speed? Thanks Gary and the others I have a macbook 13" so maybe this will do
cheers jim
Re: IPad 2 Down load speed?Downloading images using the optional Apple camera flashcard kit is painless and pretty quick. The Ipad is excellent for showing off digital images.
