Advice pleaseI am about to list my D300 on eBay, and my plan was to follow up with three DX lenses.
There is a D300 body only currently at eBay and it will end later today. The price is $550 at the moment, and I realise that it could increase in the next few hours. Used ones at B&H are around the $900 mark. I think $550 is too low, and if the one I mention above finishes at that price what do I do? If the market tells me that $550 or so is the current value I think I would keep my camera. I don't desperately need to sell it. My question is: what do my fellow forum members think is a reasonable price? TFF (Trevor)

Re: Advice pleaseYou have to remember that eBay is very much a "luck of the draw" thing.
If you get two people who both want it, then the price can skyrocket. If no one happens to look then you are stuck with bottom dollar. i.e. A single auction is not really a true indicator of market value. Greg

Re: Advice pleaseThanks Greg.
There are a couple more listed with lenses, but I think the prices are not much different. Oh well! We'll see what happens! TFF (Trevor)

Re: Advice pleaseIn addition, with high volume items like a D300, you will probably find that the current bid hours or days before auction end has little correlation with the final bid. Even Nikon f3s I have seen all gravitate towards about $250 when in good condition.
Good luck. Regards, Patrick
Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935. Our mug is smug
Re: Advice pleaseIt's worth what its worth.
Looking at 'Completed Listings' will give you an idea. The last body only to sell was on Jan 14 and $930, before that $780 on Jan 11. Getting hard nosed about gear is a good way to go. If you sell it today and decide in 6 months that you should have kept it, the buy back price will most likely be less than what you sold it for... Also, the price on B&H bears no relation to what price they go for on ebay. If you sold one to B&H they wouldn't pay you $900!
Re: Advice pleaseThanks to those who offered opinions and advice.
The camera is now listed with the 18-200mm, 12-24mm and 10.5 fisheye DX lenses to go up in the next day or so. TFF (Trevor)

Re: Advice pleaseYou did not mention the 10.5 in your other for sale post Trevor.
What are you looking at for that one? Regards Colin
Cameras, lenses and a lust for life
Re: Advice pleaseI originally thought of selling the D300 with the 18-200mm as a package, then the other two DX lenses I have following.
On listing at eBay, however, I decided to list each item separately. TFF (Trevor)
