70-200 vr

Postby nigels on Sat Mar 19, 2005 2:55 pm

Hi guys,

Just received my new 70-200VR from Birddog, will give that man a big kiss when I see him next.

Just one silly question, can't figure out what the 3 black rubber buttons do towards the front of the lens.

Anyone help please. Gee I'm a dickhead sometimes.

They are the focus lock buttons.

There's an instruction manual. I know, you're thinking it's a lens - why does it need an instruction manual for?! Well, as Huyhnie mentioned it's the focus lock, and I think you can program the button to start AF, set focus and to recall last focus set too.

Hehe I had the same thing going through my mind at the F1GP. I didn't really read the instructions, just put it on and played. It was when I was shooting I felt the buttons at the front and I was talking to myself going "What on earth are these here for? Are they for comfort?" then it was about 5minutes later when I was tracking, I held the button in and I noticed it stopped focussing and that's when the lightbulb in the head lit up.

Was going to say, when I did get around to reading the manual I didn't notice anything about programming them. I do believe though that the 200-400VR does have programmable buttons, or am I wrong on that?

Does he have his shop? Can I have the web address. Not thinking of buying anything yet.... hmmm,. may be a tripod once I can sweet talk my wife into this. Is there a catalogue on your website. Where are you located?

Cheers

I've seen the buttons on mine but never really paid any attention to them. When would they be useful?
