http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... eName=WDVW 2.2GB MAGICSTOR PLUS II COMPACT FLASH CF CARD CFC Is this safe or faster or what is the advantage if any for a D100 or D2h? Or should I buy 2Gb CF card Thank you I am sure someone has the answer. I'm back

The recommendation is to stay away from hard drive CF’s. They are slower than solid state cards and are more prone to failure due to the mechanism being fragile.

I've used one.. It's garbage IMHO.. It's so slow in reading it's not funny. Mine also died on me right in the middle of a zoo shoot.. I didn't bump it, and never took it out of the camera, and it still died on me. I wasn't very happy.. I ended up paying the zoo entry fee twice in one week because I especially went there for taking photo's, and didn't have a backup CF on me.
I learned my lesson Now I have two 1gb Sandisk Ultra II cards. Just my 2 cents worth. Geoff http://www.gleff.com

Thank you for the prompt answer.
I will purchase the 2gb lexar 80x or sandisk extreme. Sorry to hear of the failure of card - how much is the zoo entry these days? I have not been for about 20 years I'm back

The Lexar 80x or or Sandisk Extreme won't do much better with your D100, perhaps will be worst than other 45x CF card and they're more expensive than the 45x or Sandisk Ultra II, cos the limitation of the D100 and D70 as discussed in the last few threads on this board. Birddog114

Thank you birddog.
I read that thread and my thoughts are that I will upgrade my D100 later this year or early next year. So paying a little premium now means I won't be tempted to upgrade the cards if the newer body can take advantage of it. Hoping the D2x is cheaper and not in short supply..... Therefore the D1x is in the middle of pack by then which I can afford or even a D70 (newer one)? Does the above logic make sense? Also I am lead to believe D1X is WA enabled for CF? Robert I'm back

I've got Dad's (gstark) Magicstor 2.2gb sitting in front of me right now.
Unless you plan on shooting things that don't move at a slow pace, avoid. GO DIRECTLY TO COMPACT FLASH. DO NOT PASS GO. DO NOT WASTE ONE-HUNDRED-AND-FORTY DOLLARS. They're incredibly slow. I was using it to shoot the Melbourne Auto Show and while everything wasn't moving there, it's speed (or lack of) was pissing me off so much. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

I'm using three Astone 2Gb 45x cards in the last two weeks in multiframe & burst mode, I have no problems with the 45x CF card in my brand new D2x same as I have the D2h nearly a year now shooting 8fps, 40 frames continuously, and I'm not tempting to go for the Extreme or Ultra III, no use of them to me. I rather wait and now am looking for 4Gb CF Cards instead of, cos 2Gb card only gives me 100 pics/ card while the 4Gb will give me 200pics/ card. Birddog114
