Aerobatics / Parkes 2005

Postby glamy on Mon Mar 28, 2005 9:23 pm

I went to see my son compete at the national championships in Parkes. I had the opportunity to fly with my son to take some pictures from airplane to airplane early in the morning. Do not forget I am sitting in a biplane, in a very tight cockpit, in the open at 240kmh. I used the 70-200 and the ISO at 320. Here is the link to some pictures:http://www.pbase.com/glalamy/richard&page=2

glamy,
They're nice captures but if you get the shutter down to 250 or little bit less, then the blurring of the propeller will be more nicer.

I thought I'd go for clarity. Do not forget I had a hard time only holding the lens. Some of the shots in darker light have a blurry prop. I only had 20mn to shoot and no come back, but I agree it'd be nicer with the blurry prop.

Awesome pics, really well done considering your circumstances.

Thanks for showing them
Steve.

Nice pics Gerard of an Extra 300, yes and dropping the shutter would have made it a nicer pic for you, but did good job to capture some great images there. Well done.
Cheers

John,
from what I have been told, it looks a bit like the Extra 300, but this is a "One Design DR-107". It was the first time it was used at the national comp.Image

Thanks Gerard, Ok i recall seeing something very simular at an Avalon Airshow once and was incredible the power it put out and spectacular to watch. But i do love them anyhow as i have a replica Rusian Sukhoi aerobatic plane as a model, unfinished and a bipe called a Skybolt.
Anyhow the pics were great and yeh you did well to get the pics.
Cheers

Number 11 grabs me. An excellent photograph and well worthy of printing and framing. You don't have a photograph until you got a print.

Matt.
I did print that one on A4 and it came out very good. I am going to give it to the pilot.
