There's this fantastic feature available on this website called "Search".

On the front page, you'll find it on the left-hand column near where you log in, and on the forum-view pages like this one, you'll see the feature "search" near the top in the centre next to other features like "FAQ" and "Memberlist".

I might suggest searching "dslrusers.com" and seeing what you get.

Alternatively, you could just view this thread here.

We've only had the new domain for, oh, three months, give or take, and it's been operational all that time.

And as you can see, it's not as if we've been keeping it a secret.

It's basically up to you to pay attention, I guess.

As to the sarcastic reply ... live in fear of what I might have written. :)

If I were doing Marvin better, it had come out like this:

There's this feature available that most humans will probably fail to notice because of the lack of intelligence most of your awful race seem to have.

It's called "Search". In case you haven't worked it out yet, you "search" things with it.

Dreadful, isn't it?

To find it on the front page, you look where that little space is in a box that creatively is called "Search".

I know it seems hard which is why, unfortunately for me, I'm helping you.

If you're panicking and are afraid of improbability device travel to take you back to the front page, you can find this "search" feature on the page you're currently on.

Strangely enough, it too is located under the option by the name of "search" found in between other features entitled "FAQ" and "Memberlist".

An intelligent person might suggest searching "dslrusers.com" and seeing what you get.

An even more intelligent person would have suggested doing that before posting the message that started this thread.

A less intelligent person would post about how gin and tonic influenced them in their decision to purchase a beer-filled canoe aptly named "DSLRUsers.com".

Alternatively, you could just view this thread here.

Well thanks for the personal insight. Apologies for not being up to speed, but busy life and all that.

We're not flaming you, but for you to fail to search before asking a question is, at best, the epitomy of laziness.

You claim to be very busy. Big bloody deal - so who isn't? I know for a fact that Birddog is. So too am I. Far busier this year than I have been in quite a while, to the point where I've had to forego some activities that I've enjoyed doing in the past.

But that is not the point: we're not all that interested in excuses - they're really not all that relevant. Instead, if you'd just spend a few moments, having seen something that piques your interest, and using the search facility here, you'd get your anser far more quickly!

Sarcasm is hardly unfriendly... but if you don't like my tone, perhaps you'd like to see it from my point of view:

Person A asks a question that, because of its nature, is essentially directed at the admins, only that this question has been answered fairly recently.

Admin B understands that Person A's life might be rather hectic, but honestly... couldn't care less. Admin B assumes Person A is rather too lazy to use that nifty option available to all carbon based lifeforms called a "search".

Admin B elects to use sarcasm to best get through to Person A because, while Person A is telling everyone he is rather busy, Admin B is busy too and chooses the option he'd like to embed in Person A's head best.

Hence, the sarcasm.

I'd have said "hey darb try the search function ya lazy bum". Perhaps I use sarcasm differently to you. In my world, its rarely respectful or decent. You were sarcastic from outset, not in reply to any busy comment.

either way, dead issue, point taken.

Brad,

We've said it before, and no doubt we'll say it again: sarcasm runs rampant in our family. Don't take it personally; we're like that to everyone.

Especially each other!

Okay, I did the search thing and come back with very little on dslrusers. Of course, there is always the chance I am using the search function incorrectly. This thread: http://www.d70users.com/viewtopic.php?t=3582
discusses it some (and I remember reading it back then) but offers very little. Those in the know were offering very little until after the announcement at a meet the following day. The only people who seem to be privy to details are those who attended a meet in Sydney.

I think that Darbs question was quite legitimate.

Anyone care to have a crack at the original question or point us dummies who cannot use search to a thread where we may find an answer?

Cheers

Matt PS If Admin B is too busy... then he may choose to ignore this one:)

I just did a search too, on dslrusers.com.

Here's the message from the top of response page ...
"Search found 698 matches"

An advanced search returned 462 matches.

I'm not sure I understand what the problem is.

you omitted the .com matt ... youd have to have known it was a DNS change and that it was a .com and not .net or .org. or whatever.

I didnt know it was a domain name change either until someone told me in this thread. but looking at the 10 results from your search, there is a thread labelled dslrusers.com

mm back to sleep for me i think, woke up with a friggin migraine thing this morning :(

Yeah I figured that. Still having fun with it though. Typing dslrusers.com results in the search for dslrusers + com. There are a lot of coms out there. Fine tuning time of posts did not really clean it up a whole lot. Few threads even had "dslrusers" or "dslrusers.com" in it. Changing the search to "dslrusers AND com" sans quotes yielded better results. Still, the most relavent thread that I could find was the one I mentioned previously.

Normally I use Google to search sites, but it would appear that this site is not fully indexed and has not been for a while - or never has been.

I am also due for sleep - I've been up since yesterday morning plugging away at the keyboard trying to get a job done. 30 hours straight through in front of a computer. My eyes are ready to drop out.

Anyway, I have blown enough time searching for answers that I cannot find.

Cheers

As far as I understand our site structure, we are not properly indexed nor are we using a Google search on our site.

Not that we need to, either.
