Wow, guys! You really know how to make a guy feel special. TYVM!
The long and short of my absence is that I've been wandering and playing since about the 20th of June. I did a wedding for a close friend of mine, 240 miles from home, a 3 day affair, starting on the 24th. On the morning of the 25th, I remembered why I quit doing weddings 25 years ago..... Since then, I've been working a lot and shooting a lot and trying out a lot of new ideas. I'm backlogged for about 6gigs of files and I haven't felt like doing any post.... I've also been doing a lot of wandering on the net, looking for a couple of new lenses. I wanted a Nikkor 10.5 Fisheye, really bad, to do some of the wedding shots, but I managed to resist. Not gonna buy any more Nikkors until Nikon and I can get along better. I'm also looking into the prospect of converting one of my d70s to infrared. So, I just bought a Sigma 180 macro, which should be here on the 7th and I'm looking for a used Sigma 8mm fisheye. I bought the 180 macro cuz I've been heavy into macros lately and the stupid bugs here are too skittish to get any decent shots with macro lenses I have. The 180 has almost twice the working distance of my 70-180, so that should help a lot. So, there you have it. The short brief of my not so interesting last couple of weeks. But, I do sincerely appreciate the thoughts expressed in this thread. You guys are very, very cool. my gallery of so-so photos

Thats cool Kerry,
Just checking, like to keep tabs on a few in this Forum. Can't wait to see some of your new creativity. Cheers Mic,
Kerry, glad you are still alive. With the 8mm Sigma on a APS sensor body, have you seen examples? I have no idea, but wondered if instead of a fisheye it would produce an infocus picture with just a few distorted edges?

Thank You
Thanks, Mic. Not sure that what I've been doing is new or creative as much as my trying to understand and refine some of the techniques I use with the various lenses on macro/closeup subjects. I don't have hardly any of the new stuff processed and on line, but will post one of the ones that is up there. my gallery of so-so photos

Thanks, Glen. Yes, I've seen a few samples, but I'm not sure how representative they might be or how much defishing was done, if any. AFAICT, the 8mm will give some pronounced distortion, depending on how it's used, but won't give the circular effect that it gives on film. The distortion should be slightly more than that seen with the Nikkor 10.5 dx lens, which isn't a whole lot, compared to what is seen on film. MCWB: Thanks for posting the link, but I can't get to the thread. You have to be a registered user there to get into the site. my gallery of so-so photos
