i have never tryed this so i cant comment on what focus options are available but you will not be aple to zoom as there are no motors in the lens or camera to allow this

NC 4.xx has its limited ability of doing what you're asking same as the d70s with NC connected to it.
With the Pro bodies, you maybe able to do it but then again, it also requires some other optional devices to manually control.

As long as you can use AF, you can AF via Capture. As already mentioned though, you'll have to zoom manually.

Wouldn't be too hard to get a cogged ring mounted around the zoom ring.
Then get a motor with a cog on it to turn the zoom ring
The rest of it you could easily do. You could probably even mount up a small CCTV camera to look through the viewfinder.
Didn't somebody have a remote controlled plane that did something like this?

... I should have realised that the zoom isn't motor driven.
D'oh... been used to my Oly C-8080.
I did discover, since posting, that the Nikon CoolPix 8800 can be fully remoted controlled via USB, so although not a dSLR, is suitable for my intended application.
Cheers, Adam
The CP8800 use the same remote controller (ML-L3) as the D70/70s, does the remote work with the zoom lens of the CP 8800. I know Glen will "CHIMP" in, cos he got one for his mother.

The CP8800 (and CP8400) shutter, lens & image settings control is via the USB port.
Sorry, forgot you have mentioned to use the camera with NC connected.

It's been a while since I have been active, I still have a 2m HH but mostly use it to get weather reports on VHF marine...
OM (VK4DI) is still active on 80m with his old WW2 morse key.....
Cheers
