Sigma 180mm f/3.5 EX APO Macro IF HSM SHOULD I OR NOT

Postby LOZ on Mon Jul 25, 2005 10:02 pm

I feel the need to venture into a bit of Macro photography bugs ants ticks my last year pay packet !! ect and have seen some of KERRYS pixs using a Sigma 180mm f/3.5 EX APO Macro IF HSM.
I have checked the local cost (thanks Birddog) but need some feed back .
Am I heading in the right direction or are their any alternatives lens in the same $ range with same or better performance for the bucks .
I am having a very undeceive moment. LOZ

The Nikkor 200mm/f4 is excellent in macro works, I have one same as other member: fozzie.
I think a recently thread talked about it on this board.

Edit: Sorry, just re-read, you're after the 200/f.2??? is this with VR?

Yes the Nikkor 70-180 is close to the price of the Nikkor 80-400VR.

If you can justify it, then things come good.

1/The Sigma is the Sigma, it's with the fixed focal lenght at 180mm.
2/ The Nikkor 70-180 is the Nikkor 70-180, the only real macro zoom lens exists and constant f4.
You can't compare between two of them.
