Epson RX1800 Question

Postby SoCal Steve on Fri Aug 05, 2005 8:00 pm

As there are quite a few of us with Epson RX1800's now, maybe somebody will have an answer to this.

For some reason my RX1800 keeps using up the gloss optimizer "ink" even though I have printed nothing but Enhanced Matte prints for the last few weeks. It makes no sense to me and I can't find anything in the manual about it.

Fortunately the gloss optimizer is half the price of a color ink cartridge (two cartridges come in each box). Still it seems quite a waste and, like all of the other ink cartridges, the gloss optimizer is necessary for the printer to work.

Hope one of our gurus can shed some light on this for me.
Thanks.

BigPix -
Could you be more specific? I think I remember that you are on a Mac like I am (10.4).

When you select enhanced matte as your paper in the printer settings, gloss optimizer is off. It's not even an option. That's why I can't understand why its getting used up.

Can you tell me what it is you think I'm missing here?

Thanks -
Steve

The lack of response surprises me. :?
Does this mean that no one knows an answer? :)
Or that no one cares about the problem?
