I think the cheapest ticket to the Olympic Opening ceremony was $1500.

Of course as luck would have it, thats exactly how much I earned for working there for the night!
2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc

I just remembered another "highlight" of the games in sydney.

3? blackhawks running no lights at all using the air over the top of my house as a rallying point prior to a highspeed run to the olympic stadium.

Luckily a lot of sydney siders took the opportunity to be elsewhere whist the games were on, so apart from the fact that I couldnt turn into my street, traffic wasnt too bad.

I am going to put the games into the same basket as xmas.
Bah, humbug!

Man, nice looking flight deck.

Almost looks like a lighting board, but you have all the 'monitors' as well.

I suspect that it was foregone quite some time ago. There's probably a tax writeoff that they're able to claim bygiving the seats away in this manner.

"Sport" and "hero" should never be used in the same sentence!

Opening night for the games.- - - PreMorning report
Hype has kept the city clear.
Our inner city car park practically empty.
Vacant road side carparks everywhere.
Our retail area very quiet - no-one around.
Roads very quiet for this time of day and this day of work week.
15% of staff not in.
Hope it picks up and overhype doesn't scare every body out of the city
for the two weeks or so that the games are on.

Sounds a bit like a ghost town... Kind of ironic really.

When CHOGUM was on I thought it would be fun to get close up photos of fully armed FA-18 fighters in flight.

just hire a light aircraft and circle just outside the exclusion zone. i'm pretty sure they would come pretty close to have a look at you.

Wear an islamic head scarf and there would no need for anything longer than a 80mm lens

Anyone game to try this in Melbourne?

Sport, shmort...

Here Bloody Here! 10 out of 10! behind you 100%!! I am so sick of overblown overpaid overrated sports events and players.

Sport? It is only a game.

Heros are people who risk their lives for others, sportsmen and women spend their lives seeking fame and glory for themselves. There is nothing heroic about that.

Occassionally Heroes are in Sport.. like the AFL Footballer who after being in a Bali Bombing, still managed to help injured people from the wreckage when he had 2nd? degree burns..

Other then that... No real Hero in sport.. Unless they truely were someone you can think diserves the title.. like the #1 Athlete in a certain sport and you stop to help a fallen competitor..

Tim
P.s. Im Glad Ian Thorpe isnt in the games this time, iam sick of the media portraying him as our last hope.. hes only a swimmer.. yes he has a successful track record.. but when he went off about how good he was a few years ago after a games and how he was the best there is, he lost any support from me

Sports people are Sports 'Identities ' not heroes

Maybe the same characterisation as 'Colourfull' identities

Neither are they as Seven's over the top Bruce the Goose terms them - 'Special'
