Can we have a NSFW/Soft Porn/Glamour area?Moderator: Moderators

Please ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is. Id like to add that Ive been involved with monitoring a work Intranet/Internet for unacceptable use.
Our Proxy servers recorded everywhere everyone on the network went on the internet. If a problem site came up, our proxy server let us know how long people were at that site. ie if the proxy server read a few seconds next to an entry, we would know that a window was closed pretty quickly and not left open for veiwing. These sites were ignored for follow up, and I would suggest that most work places would have a similar type of policy since it is so easy to have porn thrown at you while on the internet. For sites that were flagged as followup, there was someone who visited the site for investigation. Then it was recorded and give to the manager for follow up. DSLRUsers would pass this part of the investigation because its intent is not porn, its photography. If someone was caught with for example the Becky does Baseball, scroll up to the top of the screen and the very top of the screen reads: "DSLRUsers.com A discussion forum for users of Digital Single Lens Reflex cameras." If that tittle doesnt get you out of the shit, and hitting the back button to the main page doesnt get you out of the shit, then you shouldnt be here at work. These days work places have Internet Policies, or acceptable use policies. Users need to find out what they are and find out if this whole site is ok. If its not ok, theres your answer. I dont expect any person posting here to have to adjust there life for my circumstances. Id like to add that Ive found the users here to be very mature about the way they conduct themselves. Where there is something controversial or political etc it hasnt degraded down to personal attacks etc So I respect others veiws, but I will exercise my use of this site around my situation, which in the past has ment I didnt come here during work, but gives me a few months where I can. I cant see the need to change. Nunquam requîrere a aptus occãsiõ ad claudere sûrsum
Because it's the internet, and if it's possible for someone to misunderstand a simple request and get offended by it so they can start a lengthy thread - then it will happen. The simple thing here is that many might appreciate it if, as a courtesy, some types of threads were either posted in a seperate forum area - or labelled with a simple label so people could make a decision about viewing that thread before opening it. That was my interpretation too. The basic notion goes against how I feel these forums should be focused, but I wanted to leave this thread open for full and frank discussion so that the mods and I could better understand what the percieved problem might have been.
We all accept that everyone has different tastes, and different levels of what might, or might not, be considered to be porn/soft porn/whatever. I'm not prepared to accept that others might impose their values upon me, and I'm not prepared to ask the mods to make and impose their value judgments upon others.
Exactly.
Which is what I've been saying all along.
Precisely. This is a judgment that only you may make, in the knowledge of your own circumstances. And if there's any doubt, simply don't do it. g.

I wish people would use appropriate thread subjects, period. While most indicate what the thread is about, so many are just so generic you have to open them to find out. e.g. "Image Critique Please" in the "Image Reviews and Critiques" forum (not an specific example, but I have seen some like that). Another I saw was "I need help".
Even this thread the subject doesn't match the discussion.
To be honest if thread subjects were always appropriate this type of thread would never come up. Photo gallery online here and some more on deviantArt here.
Thank you, gentlemen. As I indicated earlier, I was leaving this thread open so that we could hopefully understand what the real issue was. There's the real problem, and the answer. Are we all done now? g.

If I had known I was going to be quoted, I should have corrected my spelling!!! Regards, Patrick

I dont know what porn site you personally use. I dont subscribe to any, but from what Ive seen, porn is far more offensive that whats here. I'll accept your arguement when I see Woman Weekly etc appear on shelves in sealed bags with warning lables. I do agree that some porn sites would use glamour style of photography leading up to a porn style ie start with clothes, and loose them as the shoot progress, but I would not view that this would be porn protrayed here. To use your argument, I could say that I seen a woman on a porn site waring blue jeans, please put a warning lable on all picture of woman posted with blue jeans as I now consider this soft porn. I respect your veiw may be different to what is porn to what mine is, and I dont mean to have a go at either you or others here, but if I think your comment is a little insulting to those shooting the glamour style here. Porn is not their intent, and I accept their photos here as I accept yours. Nunquam requîrere a aptus occãsiõ ad claudere sûrsum
But it might be, and I would not restrict its posting, bearing in mind that it needs to be posted for critique.
As would I. But an accurate description of the content, and possibly a warning, is the upshot of this discussion. g.

Not really - I'm still waiting for something to back up this (so far) unsubstantiated statement:
Cheers What's another word for "thesaurus"?
Actually, I think I'd rather we didn't travel down that path. I agree that it's a curious statement, but I think that exploring it may cause more problems than it might solve. Thread closed. g.
