Sigma have combined their stand with that of the Coca-Cola Bottling Co of Florida.

Funny that - I have heard on the grape vine that Nikon have combined with Pepsi

Having heard it on the grapevine, the obvious partner would be someone like Veuve Cliquot.

More interesting things are Nikon is not committed to have any news on their future model of DSLR and perhaps giving you another year to enjoy your D70.

Agree with your sentiments Birdy.

For those that are seriously contemplating an upward move as far as their equipment is concerned, these debates about the relative pros and cons of the new items are very helpful. It's great that there is always something new on the horizon as such technology will eventually filter down through the professionals and the pro-sumers to us amatuers.

I'm only just getting to know my D70 and won't even think about upgrading until I consider my photographic talents have outgrown it. Just like my golf clubs, when I consistently outplay them, that's when I'll get a new set. I'm MANY years away from that with the D70...and the clubs!!

For those that are already outplaying the D70 - I look forward to seeing some stunning images in the future when you get your new toys.

:D

I think, once again, there are certain points about photography that are being forgotten.

Although this is a D70 forum we have had pictures posted from all manner of cameras including P&S.

Our members have acclaimed many of these photos simply because they are different, interesting or just bloody great - and quite a few have not been shot on a D70!

We have, also on this forum, the people who use glass other than Nikon and again some photos posted have been acclaimed.

I love toys and gadgets but I also love photography and in the end it is about photographs and the joy of photography and not what gear you have IMO

Ahhh .....

Rolling out the old "size doesn't matter" argument, eh? :)

In all seriousness, yes, you're 100% correct (at 6MP, 125% @ 8MP), and I suspect that is the point underlying a number of posts: the reduced price of the D2H is going to buy you a very nice camera, and you can expect to buy very little more in terms of technical improvements from the D2Hs; either camera should produce excellent images in the hands of a competent lensman, and one would need to wonder why one would purchase a D2Hs, unless something like the buffer capabilities was regarded as an essential feature of one's shooting needs.

Then again, one can always go and buy the new dribble and get double the resolution and none of the brains of a D2H.
