You'd be surprised the amount of product releases and tidbits of information that pass my desk during the space of the year.

Re: Live D90 AnnouncementI know nothing (almost) about video, in fact, I don't know much about anything really .... but the few times I have used my Canon G9 in video mode have been quite adequate for the intended purpose, and it's nowhere near Hi Def video or whatever the standard is. I think the D90 is intended (as Glen has remarked) for the dad-with-kids-in-the-park scenario and will be a great selling point.

Re: Live D90 AnnouncementThe video implement is the best thing Nikon has done, better than the D3 or D300. Market share will be had.

Re: Live D90 AnnouncementA bit disappointed it's not 1080i, but it's still rather useful. Was looking at getting a hi-def camcorder in anticipation of our new addition to the family. A D90 might be a useful tool to give me both the flexibility of a dSLR, and not having to carry a separate camcorder. Furthermore, it's rather exciting I'm no longer limited by the camcorder's fixed lens.
Re: Live D90 AnnouncementOut of curiosity Leigh, how do you find taking video with a DSLR as compared to a camcorder?
Personally I think I wouldn't find it as steady specially when panning. __________

Re: Live D90 AnnouncementDidn't get to try it that much for panning (or much at all, really) but I think it depends on what lens you use. It feels fine with anything 14-50ish but it isn't made for proper panning obviously without a tripod... sort of like how still cameras are in general.
And Broadbean I'd take 720p over 1080i any day. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

Re: Live D90 Announcement
Agreed. 720p is so much better than 1080i for sports or any movement type category. But I do like 1080p Chris

Re: Live D90 AnnouncementI think I might get one to have some fun. It'd be pretty handy for wedding speeches too... as stills are pretty useless there.

Re: Live D90 Announcement
Absolutely, 2k, 4k and the forthcoming 5k. From reports* RED are looking at using their Mysterium X sensor in a DLSR. Looks like our eyes will burn out after QuadHD *Courtesy Engadget Chris
