I'm surprised no one has mentioned a Sigma dslr yet. About the same $ your talking and you could get a SD14 and the cheap 18-55 or maybe even the 18-200IS

Can you elaborate? I didnt realise the SD-14 was ready to rumble as in IR camera without modification...and like the idea of not having to use filters. The Sigma is another set of lenses...hard to find lenses

Shutterbug Review

New Sigma SD15, seemingly the only difference is an upgraded processing engine and a larger LCD screen.

Pity about the Sigma mount, though.

Well, that's pretty good.

I think the guiding principle is that it needs to be an outstanding composition independent of the IR, so that it goes beyond the mere application of a technique.

I used to shoot colour infrared film many years ago so I have an interest in this but I don't have any digital cameras that are particularly infrared capable.

I think I prefer the second one to the first and suspect you inserted it since I first looked.

The eye goes naturally to the right. I particularly like the trees and the overhead branch and the reflection and the duck(?) coming closer in the water.

I don't think you can crop in anywhere to improve it. I just wonder whether it might have been a little better if you had gone in a step (splash?) or maybe a step to the right (perhaps the Timewarp is required here) just so that the small tree in the near foreground moves over the black patch at the bottom right.

Just checked both my D60 and my D300 and both have

+..|..|..|..|..|..-

I know you can change it in the D300 but after having a good look at the menu (it is short in the D60) I could not find the option. I'll have another look if your D60 has the reverse of the above in it.

You must use the Canon's at work a lot...I actually prefer it the default way as you turn your command dials in the direction that you want to adjust the meter...I always struggle with the Canon's as i always start turning the wrong way then have to go backwards.

Yeah it is nice to have the option to reverse the indicators, but sadly it is not an option in the D60...wish they would give you the rangefinder manual focusing aide (in the D60 the light meter becomes a MF focusing aide in everything but M mode) in the models higher up, and the MF lens info entry into the D60...

We can only wish I guess

its silly i know, but since i started with canon that meter thing just stuck with me and the nikon style "reversed" meter just feels all wrong to me even though i havent shot canon regularly for over 5 years. lol

I didnt realise you started with Canon. I guess that explains A LOT about the metering thing!! BTW what are the chances of getting to play with you IR D60 in the future?
