Hi Heath Bennett
The firm I work for once hired a hot-shot professional photographer
from Melbourne to come to Albury a do a shot of a piece of kit. He was hired by someone from a head office who had no idea that we had a pro, (me), and a studio on the site! I watched this clown set up 6 lights and shoot 5 rolls of Ektachrome...and he then came in and asked me if I could process a clip test for him...which I did. The finished image had no endearing features whatsoever...but boy did he look competent with all that gear! When he left I went and took a shot of the same bit of kit using a camera mounted Metz and bounce flash and a sheet of white cardboard. Difference in image appearance equals nil.

One thing I learnt many years ago is that the light that comes out of a $12 flashgun is the same stuff as that which comes out of a $2000 flash head. The skill is in how you handle that stuff and the aim is to put it where you want it....and you want it where it does the most good.
Fact is...nothing beats soft window light and a reflector for sensual portraiture.Nothing.
Regards
