D70 - CF FLASHING PROBLEMHi
First post for a while - have been away but back in Canberra. A week ago my camera died - with the problem Nikon have advised - CF Light Flashing and camera dead . It has been sent off to Maxwells for recovery. The problem is that when I spoke to the serviceman at Maxwells he "quickly" stated that the problem may not be the one advised by Nikon and that if so the fix is not covered by warranty. The symptoms are identical to what Nikon have outlined in their Advisory - when I put the CF card (Sandisk) in the camera the CF green lights flashes and the camera wont work and when I remove it the light stops flashing - so how could there be another component in the Camera that causes an identical problem? Has anyone else had this problem and been turned down by Maxwells or are they pulling my chain??? I may be ignorant but I find it difficult to believe that there are 2 components in the D70 that cause the identical problem but only one will be fixed under warranty by Nikon Regards, Steve " There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs" Ansel Adams.
What you've got sounds exactly like the BGLOD (Blinking Green Light Of Death) issue that we're talking about in this thread.
I doubt it's anything else if you're getting that, and Maxwell do have an obligation to fix it free of charge, last I recall. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

Steve, not sure but seem to recall the bdlod is a generic fault message which generally relates to one fault. You should probably have a look at DPReview as well to follow all permutations of this as it could be worth money to you.

Thanks for replies.
I have read Dpreview but they only talk about the known problem with no mention of similar problems which are not covered by the Nikon advisory. But I will keep looking. yeah the difference between nothing and about $500 I am lead to believe. d70 fixed under warrantyFor anyone have the Flashing Green Light problem. Maxwells have fixed my camera under warranty (purchased March 04 with no extended warranty).
Sent it to them Wed 5 Oct 05. I will have it back tomorrow. Feels so lonely without it. Steve " There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs" Ansel Adams.
