A Foot In Both Camps

I just realised that the post I made yesterday did not survive the shift of server and so I am posting again.

On Saturday I extended my DSLR arsenal with a walking-around camera and lens combo to use for personal work alongside the Canon EOS 5D which is a more commercial proposition.

I went into Fletchers and bought a D70s. With it I bought, following Glen's expert advice, a 45mm 1:2.8 P lens. I am more than delighted with the unit. Just one camera and one lens and two feet. I shot some stuff walking back home with what power there was left in the battery and yesterday I used it for a location survey for a shoot scheduled for Thursday.

I don't suppose one can be less prejudiced than that. Using the best that each has to offer for differing purposes.

Cheers,

That 45 is certainly a sweet lens; shame it's being discontinued.

Gary,

Fletchers had two in stock. I bought the black one and there is a silver one remaining.

Here are a couple of snaps from the walk home.

A great motivation for buying the camera was for it to me my driving force for a walk each morning in much the way that dog owners get their exerciseat the behest of their pet.

A beautiful combo, the 45P and D70. I think you do have the best of both worlds, all for a fraction of a MF digital back

Here's another I forgot of Adolf the Elf with his Dante-esque critters fleeing purgatory.

Sheetshooter, by the look of the above photo you will end up very fit taking your D70 for a walk, seems like there are rich pickings to be found in Leichardt (love the sunnies)

Sheetshooter,

Gnome sweet gnome, eh ?

I have the camera, but I do want a dog to take me for a walk. Nothing too big; a golden lab would be perfect. Someone to play with as well as be a good friend, always there with an ear ready to listen to one complaining after a hard day at the ... whatever.

Then again, I want to be wandering the shores of Monterosso Al Mare, shooting boats, the beach, buildings, the olive groves, faces of old men and women going about their business ....

Sort of a bit like Leichhardt, except the real deal. :)

Sheetshooter, I live in Lilyfield (except I now live in Newcastle for Uni). It's a nice area.

Can I ask what street the 'hinged art' shot was taken in?

I'll make a point of looking for you, Pippin. I don't really recall off hand.

It's great to hear you bought a nikon alongside your canon
maybe oneday you can join the community in the flesh at one of meets or excursions, you certainly qualify now with 2 DSLR bodies.

The 'Adolf the Elf' is a witty capture, I expected nothing less from you. Leichardt must be fun, did you move for the lifestyle and culture?
