Finally My Pics

Postby NewbieD70 on Tue Nov 23, 2004 10:30 pm

Well I`m throwing myself to the wolves here by posting my first ever pics with my new D70. The lens I am using is an 18-70 from the kit.

Because of my lack of knowledge, most were taken using the auto/sports/portrait functions, with the exeption of the night frames taken in the "S" mode with a delayed shutter speed.

I am not to impressed with the night shots and any imput on how to improve them would be great (tripod used with those)

None have been edited or touched up, so all colours . or lack of, are as I took them.

Here goes....

Hi Trevor - I do like your night shots.

Always look upon photography as an expanding curve of knowledge - your shots are the beginning of a wonderful experience in D70 photography

Cheers

Chris

G'day Newbie,
I enjoyed your pics, especially the shots of Thai Island & lagoon and the sky in the Egg Island shot is great!

Wonder if the seagull (the aquatic Hyena) is still waiting for his chip :-)

Cheers and thanks for sharing...

Hi Trevor
Welcome to the forum!
Your shots are quite good for a start
Like you I am really new to digital photography and have learned heaps by reading general photography books.
Leaning about things like the rule of thirds, framing shots, foreground and background interests, leading the eye into a frame, and so on all help you compose a photograph.
Don't be too hard on yourself, enjoy your hobby, read much and take risks and use the old brain and you will soon find yourself taking better and better photographs.
Cheers
Graham

Bago
Rule of thirds? Where have you been?
Seriously...some nice work and a great start with your D70 Newbie. Maybe your night shots are slightly over exposed. Try bracketing at a couple of full stops under and over your metered exposure. See if that gives you more options to choose from.
Keep posting...we get more critical as you become more confident.
Regards
