The other day I decided to turn on "Grid" to straighten an horizon but now I find that the gridlines come on everytime I open a new file and I have to uncheck it manuallly which is starting to get annoying.
Does anyone know how I can go back to the default?
Also, I can't seem to find the "Channel Mixer" command anywhere, I'm using Vers. 7

I think you go to preferences to turn off the grid lines.

And I think you will find the channel mixer with the layers pallette, all from the view menu

(Working from memory, sorry if wrong)

I tried preferences, you can change the size of the grid but tnere is no switch for on & off, I've spaced the gridlines every 1000cm so that I don't actually see them now, but it just doesn't seem right.
As for the channel mixer, I was referring to the command that Raydar 's link - http://forum.d70users.com/viewtopic.php?t=1002 pointed to. I can see the channels palette but not the channel mixer.

In PS7 go to VIEW - SHOW - GRID just click on it to turn on or off - when on it should show a tick.

To go to channel mixer: IMAGE - ADJUSTMENTS - CHANNEL MIXER

I don’t know if you use this feature to straighten horizons etc but here goes:

In tool bar go to eyedropper, which has a little triangle in the bottom right which when clicked on enables other tools - you need the ruler.

With the ruler place it on one end of your horizontal or vertical on the pic, click and drag to the other end of the horizontal or vertical and release. A line will be drawn. The go to IMAGE - ROTATE - ARBITARY where an angle will be shown just click and wait for pic to straighten.

OK Phillip - can't actually recall a switch, would need to have a look.

And yes - I see what you mean about the channel mixer. Never used it myself - I guess you have already looked in help?

Phillip - keyboard shortcut:

Ctrl + ' (the character left of enter on the keyboard)
turns on/off gridlines. Instead of using the mouse to navigate menus, etc. it's much quicker.

Thanks Onyx, one of these days I'll get a handle on all this photoshop stuff. Very hard to teach an old dog new tricks.
