A wedding photographer I now suggested http://www.momento.com.au to others on a another forum once so can't be too bad as his work is good.

I have used momento a few times with very pleasing results! Their turn around time is up to three weeks and the end product (from my experience) is excellent. I can very much recommend these mob - the only thing that they've done recently which I wasn't so impressed with is they've opened their market up to any jo blo who walks into Harvey Norman. That said, I've been very happy with the level of customer service, the images on the final pages and the software is VERY easy to use. I took one of my momento books (that I now use as an example for future clients) to a minimeet recently and I think the general consensus was pretty good :). Hope this helps.

THe book I got is fully bound with a protective sleeve cover, embossed with their name on the inside and down the spine for $138 (including delivery). It has 10 double sided pages. Let us know how you get on and please feel free to ask more questions if you need to! Cheers,

I've just done my first book with Momento and so far have found the service good (haven't got my book yet). I queried them yesterday about Pro access for forum members (which Glen had mentioned previously), but which I couldn't get without having an ABN. I got a response back within an hour telling me how to get access along with two attachments. One was a pdf on how their colour management works and a link to a downloadable printer profile to be used for colour calibration since they'd noticed some questions here about their colour management. They also included a document that describes how Mac owners can do a book through them without their (Windows only) software. BTW reason for Pro access is, amongst other things, you can have A3 books, whereas the "ordinary" access is A4. PS I'll be posting links to these pdfs when I have put them somewhere!

Do I understand correctly, that Pro access is available for anyone here on the forum?

If so, how do we go about getting such access?

(PM welcome if more suitable.....)

Cheers and thanks....

That is correct. Here's the response I got from Momento
We are about to introduce a new membership category for people like yourself who are not pro-photographers or amateurs but enthusiasts, photography assistants or students who'd like to access the sizes and materials exclusively available to Resellers.

This Starter Package will not require an ABN but users will need to be a member of camera club, an educational institution or an approved online forum such as D70. Prior to making this live on the website just complete the Reseller application and insert eleven zeros for your ABN, and the most relevant figures for the sales questions

As has been said before, they seem fairly responsive and they certainly know who we are

Peter, would you be able to bring the book to the next meet if you have it in time? I'm interested in getting one done too and missed out seeing a copy last time.

Im not terribly interested in using their software, Id rather use indesign and photoshop. Ive emailed them to see if they will let me supply my own pdf's etc.

Good tip about the pro membership, having colour calibration would be really good!

Also good to know people have had good experiences with momento.

Ive joined asukabook.com and waiting for my rego to be validated. Ill share prices when I get them. I assume they would be signicifcantly more expensive.

will post shots from the wedding soon...

Jonathan

I designed each page as a whole graphic with drop shadows begind my image, text labels and other design elements and loaded that into their software, filling the whole page.

Additionally - as I mention above - they've sent me a document describing how to create a pdf suitable for them from scratch WITHOUT using their software. Targetted at Mac users, but just as relevant for you.

Thanks to both Trent and Geoff who've offered to host these two pdfs. I'll be putting them on my ISP web space at the weekend.

Birddog - for me

I'm going to do a "best of" of my images each year. Hopefully I'll have enough for a decent size book

Wedding

I won't be at the meet on 22/10. I know Geoff and Glen both have books. Not sure if they'll be there. I certainly intend to bring my book along to a meet once I have it if for no other reason than to show off my work
