Why it doesn't make sense to buy a D70 in Bali

Postby Photodude on Thu Nov 25, 2004 7:43 am

Hi All,

A month ago i bought the D70 for $2,499 - kit lens - Tamron 70-300 - 512 card

I had at that stage already booked for a week in Bali - but from all I read on the travel forum - dig cameras where not cheaper over there

Now my wife who is already in Bali has SMSed me informing she saw the D70 with kit lens in Densapar for $1,500 AUS

So can anyone help with how I am gonna explain to my wife when I join her over there at the weekend - that it made better sense to buy over here?????

warranty isssues?
grey market imports??? (whatever they are?)
etc etc

John

Hi,
If that's soooooooooooooo good price then you may buy a second one for your wife amd make her happy.
There're many imported gears come form Singapore.
Yes, of course No warranty in Australia or even in Densapar.
You also got the cheapo Tamron at what's special offers from HN or Teds
(market price of the 70-300 is $200.00 + 512Mb card = $80.00 today) but they may charged you a hefty premium for that lens and the CF.
Say the D70 + kit lens was $1950.00 (posted in our forum month ago)
Or with 1Gb CF card was at $2050.00 and the lens is $200.00
So you got ripped off nearly $250.00 at the beginning and it was your choice.
Our members in this forum are having lot of benefits of acquisition their goods & gears at bargaining prices, direct from my cost, but didn't take it until they found out the gap holes

Photodude,
And you're able to get you TRS/ GST + $200 cash back refunds too if you went with the bargains in our forum section.
Please PM beetleboy to see if it's true?
