Ahoy folks,

Just got my new toy from Birdy, a Nikkor 85mm F/1.8 lens. (About $200 less than usual retail)

Only taken the one pic so far, rushing out to lunch, but it already appears as sharp as anything, if not sharpest lens I now own. Looking forward to having a play shortly.

Just wanted to thankBirdy. I ordered it yesterday and it arrived just now. Birdy, your a legend!

Happy happy joy joy. :D :D

why do you refer to it as a "toy" is it because of the plastic build?

The only difference between boys and men is cost of their toys :)

It is a plastic build, unlike the F/1.4. But for a metal body and extra stop I aint forking out $900 more. It also does have a very nice screw in metal lens hood. Just had another play ith it outside, haven't uploaded any pics yet.

The DOF is very thin at F/1.8. Anything in front or behind the focal point is blurred. It is incredibly sharp, I got some photos of bees (i know, very manly) that at a 100% crop you could clearly see the 'veins' in the wings.

Will upload pics when I get a chance. This should be a good lens for portraits, sports and general photography. Very happy withmy purchase already.
