Alright all, I'm down to about a month and a half left here in Sydney before I get shipped back to the States... I'm looking for any advice on the best must-have shots to get while I'm still out here in beautfiul Australia!

So far I'm planning on a trip to the Blue Mountains area, I hear I should get some nice pics there... I'd be angry at myself if I miss an obvious photo op. so let me know! Thanks in advance guys!

Anthony unfortunately I live a long way from Sydney, but I am sure that someone from Sydney will be along shortly to help out.

Hop into one of the mini meets and lot of folks here will tell you where to go or join them for the shooting trip around Sydney.

Or you're perhaps waiting for the "Security Clearance" from your Superior

It really depends what sort of photography you want to pursue...

The Blue Mountains are good for spectacular views.

Anywhere around the harbour will provide good shots... Lavender Bay is a good starting point for the stock photos of the Bridge and Opera House.

Taronga Zoo would give you some good shots of Australian fauna.

There are a few National Parks near Sydney as well... The Royal NP to the south and Ku-ring-gai NP to the North. The view from West Head in Ku-ring-gai is not to be missed...

I agree, from pics I've seen the Blue Mountains area seems beautiful. I plan on heading there soon...

I've already made the Taronga Zoo trip once, though it was before I really knew anything about shooting in Manual... I'm heading back there in a few weeks when my girlfriend flies out for round 2 of pictures there.

The Harbour/Opera House shots are definately a must, I especially need to get some night shots, those look breathtaking from what I've seen.

Thanks for the responses everyone, let me know if you have any other ideas! I have to plan stuff to do with the girlfriend when she comes out, so maybe I can work these photo sites into the schedule! (Don't tell her!)

go for a ride on the Manly ferry ....... Circular Quay to Manly return...... and shoot the harbour, sail boats, and various land marks as you glide by............

Hey mate. If you're up in the blue mountains, don't just do the typical tourist thing of getting off a bus and taking a photo of the three sisters. Take a trip to wentworth falls and go down on some of the walks, also go to the valley of the waters and Leura cascades. A bit of a hint though, if it's wet and you go to Leura cascades, take some gumboots or a change of shoes as the path is very muddy.

If you can make it to the Hunter Valley, you can get some pretty nice photos of the vineyards at Pokolbin, only 1.5 hours drive from Sydney.

Being spring, it is all new growth, so pretty nice vibrant green colours, rolling hills, and you get to taste some of the best of Australia

And as Birddog said, try to get to a Sydney mini-meet, great time, great people, great food, not all in that order

Stop by the botanic gardens or similar and pop a few shots of local Aussie native flora.

The Blue Mountains are beautiful - and fantastic if you're into the outdoors; but it's hard to photograph well, as it basically all looks the same (trees)... or at least to me.

Come up and visit tropical Queensland!

* Great barrier reef
* Beautiful islands and beaches
* Rainforest
* Tropical storms with nifty lightening displays (good show last night)
* Large man eating reptiles
