Auf wiedersen Agfa

Postby Sheetshooter on Sat Oct 22, 2005 10:38 am

Agfa in Australia has been placed intio the hands of Administrators - effective immediately yesterday (Friday 21.10.05) - as part of the proposed global dismantling of the company by Christmas.

As I understand no new orders can be processed and storews have only the stock which is on their shelves. A mate bought the last two remaining bottles of Rodinal at Vanbar yesterday arvo.

Not that I imagine most of you could care less.

Cheers,

Sad news! I guess the writing has been on the wall for some time now, shame to see them go though. I wonder what'll happen to their printing machines?

Not unexpected, but sad to see nonetheless.

AP100 has always been my favourite B&W emulsion.

Now I need to try to find a B&W CF card to match its capabilities.

Sad to see, they are a good supply company for the Printing / Graphic Arts Industry.

Screenprinters in particular will miss them....

I don't mean to be anal but I couldn't help but noticing the spelling mistake in the title.

Just for future refference its "Wiedersehen"

Amazing how anal we can be without meaning to be! Winston Churchill said that it was not the responsibility of any English speaking person to be concerned with the pronunciation of foreign words. To that end, if you listen to his speeches you will find that he always said 'NAZZIES' rather than Nazis as he stuck the slipper in. I would suggest that his attitude extended to spelling also.

Winston Curchill said a lot of things like that, many of which were absolute gems. I like the one about the woman who said "Mr. Churchill you are drunk!"

To which he replied "Yeas madam but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly!"

John,

One of my favourites was when Lady Astor (a Yank polly in the UK) commented: "If that stomach were on a woman she would be pregnant." To which he replied: "Madam, it has been, and she is!"

It's sad to see these classic film/camera companies vanishing. I can't say I ever used Agfa films myself but before my time my Dad swore by Agfa film and was using it for many years.
