Some may find this link interesting ... a piece on the BBC website about Lord Lichfield's advice on how to make portraits ... I notice that the journalist who tried to emulate the ideas used fill flash for everything though!

In his life Shakespeare spelled his name some 14 different ways - none of which is the same as we use today.
I wonder how His Lordship feels about them spelling his name differently in different areas of the piece. The old stand-by was always "Say what you like, but get the name right!" Oh deary, deary me. _______________

They're emulating some of the photos that have been displayed here, except that instead of "focus", it's spelling optional.  g.
