Ahoy folks. I need to send my sigma lens in for a service. Does anyone know where they get sent, or who to contact?

Thanks in advance folks,

Ras.

Raskill,
Just want to know: you purchased the lens thru local stores or eBay or one of Hongkong sellers?

Do you have the receipt of your purchase? can you send it back to the original source and ask them to honour its warranty?

Birdy,

Purchased it from B&H with international warranty, so I'm just hoping I can forward it to someone in Australia... Otherwise it's going to be costlier than I want (no choice really).

Raskill, you really have no choice but to use the official service agent as I would imagine they are the only one who would honour the warranty. I just went to Sigma's homepage and they list CR Kennedy. Here is the link: http://www.sigma-photo.co.jp/english/network/index.htm

You must be unlucky, I don't think too many others have had any problems

Thanks for the link Glen. I also need to get the mount fixed as it allows a miniscule amount of movement (worse in the cold :? ), which causes an error also.

Wouldn't say I'm unhappy with the lens, it's given me some great shots. Just need to get these problems fixed and I'll be happy.

Raskill, a cold problem would not be good where you live :D Kennedys have an office in Pyrmont which isn't on that link, hopefully that will be handy for after the A1

Raskill, better get ready for a blue with Kennedys. Just looked at this on their page, they even took the trouble to name a few ebay sellers. I would ring the department of fair trading to see where you stand or email Japan.

Yeah I saw that, wonder if they'll be kind to me because I bought mine from an authorised Sigma dealer in New York.

Raskill,
It should be here:

SIGMA AUSTRALIAN WARRANTY ON GREY IMPORTS

C.R. Kennedy & Co P/L will only undertake warranty repairs on products sourced through us. All products imported directly from overseas and resold are not covered by our warranty. This includes purchases through ebay and through grey importers such as http://www.camerasdirect.com.au, http://www.d-d-photographics.com.au and http://www.globalmediapro.com.

We will match, through our authorised Sigma dealer network, any legitimate advertised internet price on Sigma lenses by these grey importers.

Contact: hmok@crkennedy.com.au

As I pointed out few times about the International warranty on this board, Distributors have the rights to refuse the International services and warranty, so don't take too seriously with the International Warranty with some resellers offered.

Even the Office of Fair Trading won't get involved with it.

Cost of shipping the faulty product back to original store are very costly.

Raskill,

Well, good luck! and I doubt it! I had problems with them last year with one of my friend on his Sigma 150/2.8 macro lens.
And my friend rang the Office of Fair Trading, result: he had to send it back to Singapore for repair under warranty, the damage was nearly AU$200.00, it's just for freight & insurance on the return ticket, and took him more than 4 weeks to get the lens back.

Interesting that CR Kennedy say they will match any grey import price through their dealer network - I wonder if Maxwell would do this? - whoops! Stupid question   8)

Our friend Poon looks even cheaper. Maybe email Sigma America Raskill, looks like this might be expensive.

Just spoke to the good folk at Sigma Australia. They were very nice, but not much use. Like we all suspected, they wont honour the international warranty (they blamed ebay).

Anywhoo, have contacted the company I bought it through, seeking their guidence. I also bought an extended warranty, which covers shipping. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

I know theres a lesson here, but can't quite see it.....

Maxwell still suck.

Will Kennedys fix it on a cash basis? Might be worth mentioning to B&H.

Has anyone tries them with the price of the Sigma 70-200 @$1070.00 to your door? I sent links from three Ebay sellers and asked them over the phone.

I tried twice with both Sigma 70-200 @ 12-24! none of them work!!!! :(

Yes, but they don't import or sell Sigma.

And I'm sitting here in serious bite-my-tongue mode. :)

I also mentioned few times, I'm not going to challenge with any resellers, ebay stores, but my advice to all, think twice prior to make your purchases on any o/s sellers, who's claiming their selling comes with International warranty, it's not real when you need it.

I never offer any International Warranty, coz my biz is in Australia and the trading laws here force me doing what I said and offered, not the O/S sellers, I accept the warranty return as local warranty, and I'll take care the rest if your property required to ship back to HKG for warranty with our supplier's expenses.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: why would you bother going elsewhere?
