Breath and lens tissues.
I agree 100%!
In my opinion.....
The best way to keep lenses and filters clean is not to get them get dirty!
-First of all, gently remove the dust using a blower!
Because one of the major risk is scratching them!
-Avoid any Alcoholic based solvet or even worse a acetone based solvent!
Why?
Because
They may cause a permanent damage of the anti-reflection effect of the coating!
Expecially for
modern lenses and filters!
You can use distilled water, means water without any minerals dissolved in it. .
An easy way of how to find Distilled Water?
You can use your breath...... and now breath on it!
The water vapor in your breath will condense on a cooler surface (lenses or filters) as "pure" water (pollution is not pure!) as in winter is appening on your windows.
You can then wipe off with a lens tissue or cloth.
Microfiber cloth is excellent but try to avoid what you use for you glasses!
Wh?
Because you must be sure they are really clean!
Are you 100% sure?
You wont to wipe and scratch your expensive toys, would you?
Microfiber Cloth/tissue should be used once, then thrown away, as you use to clean your CCD!
Is better spend few cents for a tissue than spend hundred or thousand to replace your filter or lense!
But as I said......
The best way to keep lenses and filters clean is not to get them get dirty!
Take it easy
