Source for 3/8" hex head boltsWhile disassembling my 222RC Manfrotto joystick head (removing the Manfrotto QR base plate so I could fit my A-S base plate) I lost the 3/8" hex head bolt that holds the two together
I should be able to just pick these little short 3/8" hex head bolts up from anywhere? Like a bolt supply shop or maybe even Bunnings? Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes. http://www.dionm.net/
Bunnings will have them, but you'll proberly have to buy a pack of 20 knowing them!
Maybe try Mitre 10 as well? If no luck there try a car repair shop as a last resort. Vanbar might stock them as well as they are Manfrotto stockists Nikon F80D, FM2n
RRS BH-55, 055XPROB Smugmug
Thanks Paul - yeah I think Bunnings etc will probably have it.

Is it a bolt with a countersunk head and a hex/allen-key hole in the top?
I'm not sure where to find them other than as a Manfrotto spare, so if you find them I'll be interested to find out where. To track down Manfrotto spares, go to the Manfrotto website and drill down to Services->Spare Parts. Then you'll find a PDF file for your model (there are a couple of revisions of the 222 so you'll need to check them all for a match) and you may be able to identify the part number of the relevant bolt. With that you can easily ring the service department at Adeal in Altona (Vic) and get a price/etc on the part. It'd only cost a phone call to find out the details. Adeal are the official Australian Manfrotto & Gitzo distributor. You can find their details at http://www.adeal.com.au/.

For all your different types of bolts you can always try Blackwoods They sell all different types of fastners & heaps of other cool stuff Cheers.
Re: Source for 3/8" hex head bolts
Didn't even know Blackwoods sell the stuff. And there's a branch right near my office. Even better. Ta for that! Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. This one may well be a metric thread, but if it's the same as the thread that the ball head screws on to, it'll be 3/8" UNC. The diameter is close, but the pitch is different.
Cheers What's another word for "thesaurus"?
Well I bought 1/4 (I have no idea why, just was not thinking) but that is still too big.
Going to take it with me tomorrow and find a replacement that way (safest bet). Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes. http://www.dionm.net/
