Help - Photoshop issue

I have an image which looks one way in Photoshop, but looks different - specifically it is darker - when viewed using other programs.

I want it to be the way it looks in PS.

Any idea what is going on?

(Image is a jpg in Black and White, I could tell you more but I'd have to kill you)

I'm no expert but maybe you've set up monitor gamma correction in Photoshop where the other programs don't have this?

Default gamma setting could be different in PS?! Or maybe you're viewing under adobe RGB colourspace and outside of it defaults to sRGB... I dunno. My best guess.

Yeah didn't think of the colorspace issue but I wouldn't have thought it would of had much impact on a B+W

Check what colour space you are using in PS in preferences and then check the other programs colour space.

If you are working in greyscale my best bet is that you have one gamma in PS for greyscale and another in the other program.

Is it a mac or IBM system. If IBM both greyscale gammas should be 2.2 in each program and if mac they should be 1.8.

Other than that it is hard to guess without seeing exactly what you are doing

Cheers

Try a "Save for Web" and see how it looks - then maybe you can enter it in the comp .... ;-)
