All due respect I think everyone (except Raydar) missed the point of the Q.
The Q is can the shutter release be set to timer
mode so that it does not need to be reset to timer
mode after each shot. I'm very sure the answer is no. However, it may be worth using the remote (assuming you have one) instead and using one of the two remote shutter release settings. The remote
mode can be set to semi-permanent although it to will time out back to [s]
mode after a configurable period.
Now won't I look like an ass if I'm the one who missed the point.
