Is there a way to setup the D70 so that it doesn't return to single frame mode after it's performed a timed shutter release. I want to take a lot of timed shutter release photos but it's annoying having to switch it back to timed everytime.

I believe Nikon Capture can do this, ie: time lapse photos, but i have never tested this.

Downside is that you'd have to keep your camera connected to a computer.

I guess Killakoala is right.

Also you need to consider the drain on the D70 batteries when connecting via USB. Apparently it takes about two hours to flatten the D70 battery when the camera is connected via USB.

confirmed it works with NC, only can do it with a PC connect to it but juice will dry fast.

All due respect I think everyone (except Raydar) missed the point of the Q.

The Q is can the shutter release be set to timer mode so that it does not need to be reset to timer mode after each shot. I'm very sure the answer is no. However, it may be worth using the remote (assuming you have one) instead and using one of the two remote shutter release settings. The remote mode can be set to semi-permanent although it to will time out back to [s] mode after a configurable period.

Now won't I look like an ass if I'm the one who missed the point.

Nup Deano and Raydar are the only two who got the Q. I'm doing a bit of macro photography and was using the timed shutter release to reduce vibration. However sick of changing it everytime after I take a shot.

If Deano's right - get the remote. Set it to time out 30 minutes, so you have that long to muck about and grab shots off without it defaulting back to single shot mode.

Although sometimes with the remote even it doesn't take the photo and I'm not sure why. It may be operator error...

Why would Nikon set the camera up like this. The thing I like about the D70 is that it doesn't do a lot of assuming. Why would it assume that I wanted to change out of timed release every time?

Yep, Deano is correct. Actually, if you set it to remote+timer mode, it will stay in that mode after shutter release - unlike timer mode, where it resets to single release mode after shutter release.

I actually e-mailed Nikon support and asked if they could make a revision in the next firmware update to allow time release and ir remote to stay in set mode until manually changed. They said they will pass it on and may be possible if they get enough requests........fire up those keyboards kids
