I'm looking to buy a Nikon Teleconverter preferably a 1.7 to specifically use with the 70-200VR

Has anyone got one they are looking to sell? I've seen a few on Ebay, but thought I'd ask here first.

If you are interested please pm me with details and price wanted.

Cheers

Tony

Thanks OnePutt,

I was hoping more for a secondhand one rather than new. This sort of item I'd imagine to be in pretty good nick in most peoples bags as it may not necessarily be used all that often.

Regards

Tony

TonyH,

Just for your information, my Nikon TC-17EII lives on either Nikkor 300mm f/4 or 70-200VR :D

TonyH,
Anyone, who bought this TC, has good uses of it on their lens and mostly with 70-200VR users.
Even an used unit on eBay is still around AU$500.00 including shipping.

Fozzie (or anyone else) does the VR feature still work on the 70-200mm with a TC attached?

$500 is pretty steep, why so much?

Raskill, why not so much. I sold mine for $450 after 6months of use and mine was in excellent condition. You can always go to Vanbar I guess and pay $670 brand new :)

I remember at the beginning of the year they were selling them for $1000.

Raskill,
If your interested D-D Photographics has it for $479 with free pick up in Sydney.
I think this guy gets his stock from the States, I don't know it that's a concern for you or not.

TC 1.7

Hi Guys
Is there any reason why the 1.7 TC above the 2.0 TC for the 70-200VR ?

Some reports say that the 1.7 produces better results compared to 2.0 and others say there is no big difference in quality loss.

What are your thoughts?

Cheers Albert

Albert,

I'm not really sure. The 1.7x is 1.5 f stops loss and the 2.0x is 2 f stop loss.

The guys who use the 2x says there is no difference but the experts seem to state that the 1.7x is sharper and more lens friendly overall.

I am open to correction at any time

Tony

I think if you have 300mm f/4 and use 2.0x TC it can only manual focus....
If someone has 70-200 and 300mm then they would probably opt for 1.7 becuase AF on both lense...?
that might be a reason why....? :?

Albert,
Sorry no, I don't know and can't answer to you what reason, but the TC 2.0 is not the best in comparison with the 1.4 or 1.7 at 100 - 200 (340).

=BlackWater=
The TC 2.0 works well on AF-S with both 70-200VR and 300/ f4 AF-S, but the results as sharpness are not the same with TC 1.7.
On other side, the 1.7 produce stunning clarity and sharpness.
I have all the set 1.4/1.7/2.0.

Thanks for that from all who responded to my question.
It is for a 70-200mm VR Nikkor and I will put the 1.7 TC on my Santa's long list of goodies lusting for.
