received my replacement for recalled en-el3 today

Not sure if this of interest to anyone but I filled my request for replacement last week, and today received my replacement in the mail.

I received a en-el3e 1500mAH (my recalled item was en-el3 1400mAH)
an extra 100mAH for free not to mention an 11 month newer battery.

I received a little box with a note on the back giving return instructions
as well as saying they are doing it on an honour system and if I dont send the original battery back, I will receive an invoice from them. You basically package the old battery up in the box the replacement comes in and stick the provided return postage label over the address on the front and drop in in the post.

All in all I thought this was good service from Maxwells and they get my thanks for prompt service.

Steve,

That sounds both painless and efficient.

Well done, Maxwells.

Chris:
Prior to sending the battery back to them, it occurred to me that I had no way to actually confirm that I sent the original back to them because they only want it send ordinary post. I did hand it to the manager of the local post office so he should remember and put in a good word for me should it go missing.

Steve,

So you're expecting a manager-type person at your local Oz Post to remember something beyond finding the way home at 4:53pm?

ROTFLMAO!

Chris
I received an email response yesterday and an actual phone call today after my query saying that I would receive my replacement in one to two weeks :) I'm pretty happy with that.

I received no formal acknowledgement from maxwells that they had received my request for replacement (which at the time I thought strange) I wasnt that worried because I was still using the battery and didnt expect trouble from it anyhow.

The first I knew that they got my request was when the new battery arrived today.

Much as I begruge paying the inflated prices of Maxwell stock, I'm quite satisfied at their response to what must be a huge undertaking - recalling all those batteries.

I'm especially pleased that Nikon have allowed for free postatge.

While they're there, I'd be ecstatic if they recalled my D70 and replaced it for a D200

Pls. note: the total cost of the recall is hurting Nikon's pocket, not Maxwell, as same as BLGOD recall on the D70 and metering on the D2h.

There's No goodwill from Maxwell! You'll never get a drop of blood from a stone

Maxwell earns good margin on the recalls as well thru the agreement with Nikon Japan as logistic, human resources, postage etc....pls. don't expect it's a small windfall!

People who are working at Maxwell, they all have the "flak jacket" and "deaf ears"

These replacement batteries are designed for the D200. They might end up delaying the release of the D200 because they have given all the batteries away ...or...if the batteries are on the market then the camera is not far behind. Anyway...I appreciate the grey colour....can use the battery as a substitute for a grey card. Clever idea Nikon!
