Was thinking how nice it would be to have a rubber eyecup on my d70 so I was doing some research. It appears that the d70 comes WITH a rubber eyecup??????? Am I misreading something or did I just get screwed and not get one???? Any suggestions for a good one??

The d70 comes with a rubber eyecap... which covers the viewfinder during longexposures...

Sorry MHD - the long exposure cap is not the eyecup and the eyecap is made of plastic!
Just a little correction
Cheers

Take the rubber eyecup off - then slide the cap on

You can consider using the round DK-3 rubber eye cup. To fit it on the D70, you will actually need to buy three pieces.
1. Eyepiece cup adapter F3HP
2. Eyepiece replacement FM2/FE
3. DK-3 rubber eyecup.
I've got a picture of these three pieces around somewhere which I'll post up once I find it.

Yes, it works that way but the outcome is more than $50.00 for all three items.
Just get the rubber eyecup for Nikon 601, and it will do the job, it's Aussie 15 bucks

And it's more correctly called an eyepiece blind.

Ouch... $50 ? A friend of mine just picked up all three pieces for S$35 at a shop here in Singapore, which is about A$27. Hmmm... the rubber eyecup for the 601, is that rounded like the DK-3 ?

Yes, it's S$35.00 and HKG$25.00 but once come to this wonderful land, Disti. add on 100% margin on top. The Rubber Eyecup for Nikon 601 is US$6.50 on B&H website but I have to pay $13.00 ex-GST for each of them here from Nikon Disti.
The Nikon rubber eyecup for the 601 is not round like DK-3 or DK-2 but it's very comfy with people wearing glasses, Sirhc55 got one yesterday.

If you can help our people here, I can transfer some monies to you, to buy 10 set of them and send to Australia for our member, who want them.

Hey mate, sure, I can give it a go. I'll have to ask the shop to see if they have much stock - my friend mentioned that they were going quick. (I assume we're talking about the 3 pieces for the DK-3 and not the 601 eyecup)

I stand corrected - getting old does tend to make my mind wander - now what days is it?

yeah, so I have none of that type of stuff. I have a hard plastic eyepiece with a mount for another eyecup, but no rubber piece or viewfinder cover(?). Oh welll, I guess it's too late now to go back to the store and complain..
thanks for the advice, I'll look around some.

Birddog,
Just check with the shop last night - they don't have any current stock, so I've asked them to bring some in, they'll let me know when it comes (they can't say when it'll arrive). I'll check out some other shops over the weekend.

Raydar,
Maxwell did not bother to sell these stuffs, don't waste your time to ask your dealer order from them, i ordered from them very often but sometimes they did not want to reply, eventhought, i buy from them other stocks but it's very annoying when dealing with them, cos they're the only one in this part of the world selling Nikon genuine, so we have to switch to overseas for some Nikon parts. I didn't care and o/s suppliers get my monies instead of.

atencati,
I couldn't find my pictures of it, but managed to find an image of the three on the net here
That universal eyecup thing you found looks good - and cheap too.
