In my interest in the other current topic Man fined over topless phone photos I found this article:

Mobile Phone Cameras Gaining Ground

they expect:

phone cameras may become more popular than digital still cameras.

by 2007 that more three- and four-megapixel digital cameras will be incorporated in mobile phones than in digital still cameras.

A similar study by the LG Economic Research Institute (LGERI) (Korea) projects that mobile camera phones are expected to gobble up 40 percent of the digital camera market by 2008.

EEK!! i guess they are around to stay... [sighs] and i guess we can expect more *pratts* running around destroying the freedom us current photographers have with ludicrous laws imposed.

This, like stories of Kodak staff layoffs, comes as no surprise to me. It's obvious and inevitable. And LG annouced a 7MP cellphone camera the other day too.

But as we all know, none of these can do what we, with the glass that we have, can do with our D70s.

It's the same as ever really; cellphone cams will simply replace the low end PHD cameras.
