SB800 concern

Postby Steffen on Thu Dec 01, 2005 12:56 am

I've had the SB800 for about a month now, and it's doing great. I like the tilt/swivel head (only had the SB20 and SB27 before, which used quite different tilt mechanisms).

I feel however that the unlock button (for tilting and swiveling) is a bit stiff. I'm never able to move the flash head at first try, I always have to push that button a bit deeper. I'm worried that one day I'll rip the head straight off. It doesn't seem particularly strong.

Does anybody else worry about this? Are there reports of torn off flash heads with the SB800?

Cheers
Steffen.

Steffen, just make more/regular use of your speedlight, it'll soften. Mine has (after 14-15 months of ownership). As the flash is stored with the head flat with the body, and tilted forward for use, just taking it out of its pouch and putting it on your camera regularly will wear that tilt/swivel mechanism in.

There are just so many things one could say to that
