A friend is looking at converting to the dark side of the force and going digital.

Does anyone have an idea of a current selling price for a good Nikon f5 that she needs to sell to buy a D70 or similar?

The ones on eBay seem to sell for between $700 and $1500 depending on condition. Of course you can put your own price on it and hope. :wink:

it can get even worse.... I have seen the F5 struggling to get $500 sometimes.

It may be a good idea if your friend ebays it to put a reasonable starting price down.

Why? do you want a good F5?

I'm sure she will accept your D70 as part trade!!!!! :shock:

She is trying to get enough cash together to buy a D70 or D70s If she sells now she will get a pittance if she sells in the future she will get nothing.

I have an F5 an F100 an F4 and FM bodies. I just don't see the point of selling them for such a small amount but If you need the cash then every bit helps. She is on a pension but is good at photography if she gets a D70 then she will need to upgrade her computer system too.

So on it goes. To save money you have to have money in the first place.

Dug I had an F80 that was in perfect condition, hardly used about 10 rolls throught it. I payed $1200-1400 for it brandnew from Michaels after 3years it was only worth $380

We should send them back to Nikon and demand our money back!!!

At least I have no idea how many rolls of film my F5 and F100 have shot it would be in the thousands.

Of course you could be like me and live in hope that Nikon will produce digital backs with a sensor that exactly emulates Provia or Velvia and that these digital backs will retrofit our F100's F5's etc. :lol:

Judging by Ebay and second hand dealers prices in Melbourne, your friend will be far short using any film camera as a deposit on a DSLR :cry:

I just picked up a mint FA for $ 100.00. I was using it to shoot in a restauraunt and overheard another patron remark. Look at that guy using that ancient camera :shock:

I had my revenge because he was using a little P&S shooting aginst a backlit window. I neglected to tell him that he needed to use the flash.

always interested in a bargain, but if we're talking trades then let's be realistic.... :twisted:

pretty soon you'll have to import the film to run one of those babies regardless of how good they are....

If you want to pm me with a price it may be of interest.
I haven't got that model yet.
