Does anyone have experience with using portable data banks.

Are they any good?

What are the negatives?

Are there any brands to be avoided?

Is the tranfer rate fast enough?

I'm contemplating buying one of these and possibly leaving the laptop at home this Christmas. We're off overseas, if they're any good it may be a weight problem solution.

Also interested to hear about if they have an internal battery or how are their power requirements.

I think most seem to have an internal battery, but I only know a small amount about these devices
