Batch resize a hole folder! Software??

Hi have done a slideshow for the end of year prep school class.

Each of the parents will be given a copy and on the cd/dvd I would like to include copies of the pics.

However I would like to resize/reduce quality them all so they can veiw them but they will not be printed with any quality. Most of the pics are in JPG format from my D70 and a few other point and shoot sources.

Can I do it with photoshop or is there an easier way? There is about 250 pics to resize so opening them one by one is not the answer.

i would like to just pic a folder and the PC will go to work and save them to another folder.

Thanks MATT

You are able to batch resize in PS. But I am unsure how to do this!
I normally use PS Elements and just goto -

File>
Batch Processing>
All the options are here to select a foder, what quality jpeg you wish and what folder to save the altered images...

I hope this helps.
Maybe someone else knows a better way?

Cheers

Scott

FWIW Nikon View also does batch resize/recompress/rename. :)

A raft of powerful batch image processing tools come to mind (NetPBM, ImageMagick, GIMP, ...) that are all free and ubiquitous in the Unix/Linux world. I'm sure they've been ported to MS Windows as well (which I suppose you're using?). They are definitely available for Mac OS X.

Another extremely powerful (in terms of batch processing) tool is Bibble, the RAW file converter/postprocessor for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. There are free fully functional 30 day trial licenses available for Bibble, if you want to give it a spin.

For the task at hand, the most straightforward tools would be NetPBM's pamscale or ImageMagick's convert. They are command line tools.

Cheers
Steffen.
