Silicon Power 2 Gig card stuff out?

I have just had my second silicon power 2 gig card stuff out on me and I am not happy. Hopefully I will be able to recover the files but has anyone else had problems like this ?

I reformat every time I download the card the only other thing I can think of is switching between the D70 and D70s cameras is that going to give me problems?

Hey Doug... i get problems with mine too... camera stores fine.. i take 100+ photos.. then the card craps out and wont work.. and my card reader on the comp wont accept it and demands it to be formatted

Are you using the 66 speed or the 80 speed?

Come into the store and change it for an 80 speed there were problems with the 66 speed ones I think I am the only person having problems with the 80 speed that makes me think the 2 cameras may be the problem. see you tomorrow anyway. cheers doug

Given that (a) the 66 speed ones gave problems, and (b) you're seeing the same issue in two cameras, I would suggestr getting a different brand of card and seeing how it behaves.

I doubt it's the camera, btw.

I don't think it's the camera more a combination of changing cards from the D70 to the D70s. PS good to see there is another "Happy Tree friends" fan out there.

Why not stick to proven named brands such as Sandisk, Lexar, Kingston etc. It's dicing with death imho using not so well known brands.

That shouldn't be an issue either; the cameras are pretty well the same for those purposes.

While it's possible that there may be a problem with on camera, the fact that you're seeing issues in two is strongly suggestive that the card is problematic.

Try different cards in both cameras.

Try the cards that are seeming to be problematic in different cameras, and see what transpires.

It's dicing with death imho using not so well known brands.

I dunno about that - if we assume the same OEM making these cards sold under different names, it would have the same quality of manufacture, hence failure rates will be statistically equal. It's the warranty support and customer service differences of the brandnames that has my patronage.

Still, flash media are alot more reliable by an order of magnitude compared to magnetic media (hard disks).

What gets me is we sell heaps of these cards and no one else has had the problem and I get it twice.

Either I am unlucky or it is something I am doing to them.
