Hi
This may seem a silly question but are all monopods the same height.I am on the taller side and some of the monopods seem short and you could end up bent over with the resultant sore back . If there is a difference what are the taller ones?

Jeff, they do come in different heights, just check the websites for info on the sizes of the ones you are interest in. I know Birddy's top line Gitzo is tall.

The height of the monopod are varied.
Pls. take into account with camera body and lens collar ontop of the monopod.

Jeff,
I am 6'8" tall and my monopod is just a garden variety Manfrotto (679B). With a 222RC grip on top my 20Ds viewfinder is dead on eye level.

Jeff,
Some Gitzos and Manfrottos are quite long to take into account the fact that they work most efficiently when used at an angle rather than the perpendicular - you could say that they become the hypoteneuse of a right triangle of which your eye to ground height is one of the other two sides.
Cheers,

These two are at the top of the Manfrotto monopod food chain, in terms of size/height/thickness of tubing, etc. the 680B and 681B. Sorry I neglected a generic standing human for size determination...
I too suffer from an excess height problem, and find the 681B - the taller of the two, to be barely sufficient when used with a #234 tilt/swivel head dropped in the vertical position. The additional height afforded by the #222 head is high in my list of priorities.
