John,
Don't worry, let me go to Vanbar buy one and post it in a small envelope as standard mail for $0.50.
You want a step up or stepdown from the 67mm?

BBJ, yep in future just post and one of us Melbourne/Sydney folks will pick it up. I was at Vanbar on Saturday and Monday and picked up a few stepping rings. I picked up 62-67 for the 70-300G, 58-67 for the Sigma 70-300APO and the Nikkor 28-70mm that came with my F80, also have a 52-67 for the Nikkor 50mm F1.4D. They're extremely light and I can't see postage costing anymore than $1 as Birdy said.

Make sure you specify the correct one. I had the learning experience after incorrectly reading an article on stepping rings.

Eg. Step Up 62-67MM is what is required for a 62MM lense mouth to a 67MM filter thread.

Hi Kipper, Yes mate i nearly died when i went to my cart and came up with $13 for freight, for 1 we dont get them overnight anyhow and yeh not as if they weigh a ton, and yes a small post pack from Ozzy post is good enough, i can not justify that price for for such a small weightless item. 70-300 G is 62 and filter i have is 67. Thanks i will remember that, i tried another place who said go to Hardley Normal, anyhow Birdy will sort it out for mer when he gets time no hurry, but will get a uv for it at some stageas i leave uv on all the time anyhow.
Thanks
John

Hardly Normal don't do jack shit like that, same with Teds. Not to say Teds couldn't get one in for you but I very much doubt they would stock them off the shelf. Vanbar is really a camera persons haven. The Carlton store is awesome, lots of Lowepro bags, lots of Nikon Lenses, lots of Manfrotto (unfortunately no Gitzo), it really does feel like a camera store unlike some of the other places. I can't really understand why though that Vanbar doesn't stock B+W filters or Nikon or Canon. When I asked for a Nikon 500D they said they were too expensive.

Kipper,
I have to wait few months to get the Canon 500D from US, Onyx bought it from B&H and brought home for me.

B&W same as Hoya Super Pro HMC thin 3mm, I don't think you can get them in Australia,
1st: Too expensive
2nd: No big demand

I have to buy them from overseas finally

Fair enough. I guess if their isn't a great demand for them, then it's not worth stocking.

It's a big demand here, but the local importers same as distributors marked up their margin too high, therefore prices to end user is too expensive and they bought their gears from o/s.

look at the prices of the filters in the Bargain section, I have no mark up there, but they're only restricted to members, I don't sell them to public.

Step up or down ?

I was wondering about that if you had a 67 filter and wanted it to work on a 62 lens that would be a step up right you look at from lens to filter not filter to lens :?:
Is it better to step up or step down, for a CPL, or does it matter :?:
I have a 62 mm and a 67 mm. Tamron 28 300 and the kit. I shoot more outside with the Tamron. Should I get a filter size for the most used and step down or get the larger filter and step up :?

Thanks
Rich

The following link with more explanation about step up & down ring
http://www.2filter.com/prices/products/rings.html

With a CPL step up or down doesn't matter but use the step ring with WIDE angle may has vignette issue when too WIDE.
