Ok gang, here's my dilemma.

I want to get serioulsy into Panorama photography so i need a tripod setup that is good for the task.

I have read all the threads on this forum to help me decide but i am more confused as to what would be the best setup for me.

Acratech, Markin, Really Right Stuff, Gitzo aaarrgghhh!!!!! i've lost it now.....

So what do i need. Here's my list;
1. L adapter with slider.
2. Thingy to mount on top of the tripod with a spirit level built-in.
Possibly the RRS http://www.reallyrightstuff.com/pano/index.html
3. I intend to get a Gitzo tripod in the future but not yet, so whatever mounts i get will have to be able to fit the Gitzo machine. My old tripod i have now will do for the time being, until after Xmas.

I'm not sure what i need. There's so much on offer.

help please :(

Steve, I can't help you with your dilemma, but I knew I was going to laugh before opening the thread, when I saw who was the first to reply.
Anyway Birdy will no doubt set you straight shortly.

You definetely need the number 1 and 2, the pano head, perhaps you don't need it, cos once you got the Acratech, Markin, RRS, Arca Swiss heads, all come with the index for pano, my question is: can your tripod use with those heads? and/ or Omni-Pivot Package Optimized for Horizontal & Vertical Panoramic Photography (I back-ordered one for myself)
http://www.reallyrightstuff.com/pano/index.html
I do not remember what tripod you have, bring along one Saturday and try all the ballheads I have then you'll see.

Theres definately a few in this crowd...

My pano system is going to be very simple:
G1227LVL leveling legs
Acratech ballhead (has a panning base)
And one of those levels that slot into the hot shoe..

So I level my base using the leveling feature of the Gitzo (has its own bubble level) and the level the plate using the on camera level...

There were some pan attachments going on eBay the other day that looked quite good, mist one by .5 hours

What stitching program you using to put them together????

Cheers

Hope there is an L plate in there somewhere? Panos shot with the camera in portrait are better than landscape orientation.

Hmmm. i might have to do a bit more thinking as to the setup. it is difficult matching all the bits together to get the best setup.

At the moment i am using Panorama Factory and Photoshop CS.

I think a new tripod will also be on the cards.

Gitzo's anyone?

Good combination mate, same as me 8)

I’m thinking of trying to make a pan head up myself.
I know what I need, it’s just a mater of putting it to paper & making it happens :?

Cheers
