Hi all. Just wanted to intoduce myself. Have been photographing nature on and off for 8 or so years with 35mm Nikon gear and have just started dabbling in the world of digi SLRs (borrowed D70 for a few weeks a month or so ago). Am about to buy a D200 and hope to learn from others as well as helping out. I look forward to the world of dslrusers!Cheers.

Love your avatar Finch! You have a bit of a learning curve ahead of you but you will enjoy every moment of it. Digital photography leaves analogue photography for dead!

Hi Matt. K. Its only an avatar but thanks for the positive feedback. Yes, a steep learning curve indeed going digi but I can't wait. Am hearing great reviews about D200 that I'm buying so it should be fun.

I'm sure I'll love the D200, shutterbug and reviews have been outstanding right around the world. Perfect size, robust body, great features. 10.2 megapixels and a good price as well!

Thanks xerubus. Its great to be a nature photographer in Qld. So many places to photograph wildlife, insects, flowers, fungi, landscapes - you name it. Places such as Lamington National Park, Springbrook NP, Boondal Wetlands, Brisbane Forest Park, Mt Barney and Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens are just a few of the wonderful places Queensland has to offer.

Great to have a "pro nature photograher" on board.
I get the chance to visit many zoo's in my job and tend to post many of them on this forum, so would love to have some feedback from a "pro"
Welcome to DSLR!

Thanks for the welcome, ozimax and Mal.
Mal, I'd be more than happy to help out with suggestions re. nature photography and that's partly why I joined this forum. I want to learn from some obviously talented photographers here but hopefully can give some suggestions/feedback as well. Rel (blacknstormy) and Simon (Manta) are friends who have helped me join the digital world just recently (after 8+ years of 35mm) and are the ones who coaxed me into joining the forum. So far, I'm extremely impressed by what I see and humbled by all the friendly welcomes. Thanks, guys!

Thanks Kevin,
I'll post some pics down-the-track, no worries. First I have to sort out a site such as Smugmug and work out how to post pics. In the meantime, I'm enjoying cruising the site, picking up tips, reading critiques and threads etc, etc, etc.
Cheers
